From the beginning, this drum beat starts right out with an upbeat, funky verse groove with syncopated hi-hat which soon transforms into a disco-influenced open/closed pattern. This is basically back beat funk, with some little embellishments thrown in here and there. The beat breaks down to just kick drum and hi-hat, drops out completely for a couple beats, then gets right back into it. The drum track ends with a building snare pattern in 16th notes.
