Beginning with a thumping kick drum in quarter notes, soon a hi-hat and later a snare are added into this drum beat. The kick sticks to four on the floor, occasionally dropping out for a beat or two. The hi-hat is simple and opens up every so often before switching to eight notes. The kick drum fills in some gaps with embellishments, but the beat stays straight and simple. The groove alternates between eight note and quarter note feels. About three minutes in, a tom beats with the kick in quarter notes. Elements of the kit drop out here and there for beats at a time. It ends with the solo bass drum.
