This is a throwback to early rock and roll with its snare on "two and" of every measure. It sounds a bit like surf-rock, played lightly and simply with some fills here and there. The main groove is on the hi-hat, but it switches between that and a ride cymbal for different sections of the drum track. There is a hi-hat only breakdown for a few bars; a kick comes in and then the beat comes back till the end of the drum beat.
