The brushes are heavily featured in this mid-tempo R&B shuffle. A rock-solid snare/kick/hats backbeat starts things off with the ride, crash and splash cymbals providing the accents. The track pulls back at 00:40, breaking down to just the sound of the kick and the brushes on the snare, then it's back to the backbeat, this time adding fills on the toms and snare, and a few quick rhythm change-ups. The track moves back and forth between the two soft-loud parts, adding lots of variation-- at one point it drops down to just the sound of the hats, until the snare lifts it back to the harder, intense part at 3:15, and that's where it stays, building intensity with the cymbals until a quick rest signals the end in a wash of brush-drenched cymbals.
