Laid back pocket coolness. Slides into a sweet bluesy backbeat like it's putting on a comfortable pair of uptown shoes, and taking a walk through Brooklyn on a torrid summer night. Tight brushwork on the snare and hats is paired with a punchy kick with bassy overtones, with an occasional cross-stick thrown in for good measure. The track works with dynamics, pulling and pushing the rhythm and intensity to build a loud/soft, slow/fast tension, while fills take the form of runs on the toms, snare and cymbals, and a classic big finish on the cymbals at the end. A very workable track that would form a solid foundation for any R&B song.
