This song opens with a punchy kick/hi-hat groove offset with the woody sound of snare drum cross-sticking on the back beat, and accented with the crash cymbal. At 1:00 a toms/snare/kick fill transitions the piece into the second part, where the cross-sticking is replaced with a full-on, roomy snare. It's a simple but effective change, and manages to kick the piece into a higher gear. Nice accents with the cymbals and toms throughout the second part. A kick/snare/toms/cymbals fill brings the song to rest at 2:33 from the second part, and then pulls it out again at 2:37, and carries it through until the end when the first part bookend's the song, stopping on a floating cross-stick.
