This song is all about the floor tom. It's big, it's resonant and it features heavily throughout. The song starts out with a thundering tom/kick/snare shuffle that transitions into a scaled back groove with the addition of the hi-hat. Then it's back to the thunder. The song moves back and forth between these two parts allowing for a hard/soft dynamic, and there is some nice cymbal/snare/toms work during the transitions, keeping things tight. A short minimalist breakdown at 3:11 sets up the middle 8, and then it's full steam ahead to the finish line. Imagine a Viking ship being rowed to the rhythm of a drummer standing at the bow of the boat-- this could be that rhythm.
